An exceptional mentoring opportunity for filmmakers and digital content producers in the Bradford area.
Applications are now closed.
What is FilmMakers 25?
In September we launched an exciting new mentoring network for filmmakers or digital content producers in the Bradford district. It’s jointly funded by Bradford Metropolitan District Council and Bradford 2025 in association with ScreenSkills, the industry-led skills body for the UK’s screen industries, using National Lottery funds awarded by the British Film Institute (BFI) as part of the Future Film Skills programme. These were the requirements we asked applicants to think about and we particularly welcomed applications from under-represented groups:
- You’re a traditional film or video producer
- You produce content for digital platforms
- You make exceptional movies on your smartphone
- You’re a final year FE/HE student in a media related topic anywhere in the district
- You are already or are keen to become an editor, director, producer, shooter or writer of screen content
Each mentee is matched with an appropriate industry expert and the standard of mentor is terrific. The matched pairs will have at least six meetings over a period of six months. Their mentor will help plug them into the region’s screen industry and create a network of contacts that mentees can draw on as they build their careers.
In addition, notwithstanding social distancing guidelines, the 25 successful mentees will be offered mentee induction training, masterclasses, industry insights and, finally and importantly, the chance to get to know one another with a view to building a sustainable group of talented people with commercial experience who can become the successful Bradford content producers of tomorrow.
The FilmMakers25 network is run by mentoring experts Under The Moon (organisers of Channel 4’s Commissioning Mentor Network and others).
